Tiny Treasures in My Garden

What began as a personal record of the insects visiting my garden became a meticulously handcrafted series celebrating their beauty. Each sculpture starts with a real encounter — photographed, studied and then made by hand.

These works form my contribution to ENTOGRAPHICA, an exhibition dedicated to shifting how we see the insect world.

Using armature wire and modelling clay, I built the shape and form of each insect by hand.

The wings are always the most important part for me – made from watercolour paper or painted acetate to capture their delicacy and detail.

I add gold and silver leaf, iridescent watercolours, acrylics, spray paint and whatever materials I can find in my art cupboard to bring their tiny details to life.

Every texture, colour and surface is chosen to spark an emotional, tactile connection – an invitation to pause and see these everyday visitors differently.
