My egg is a canvas reflecting the delicate balance and beauty of life. Painted with insects I’ve discovered in my garden, it celebrates these tiny treasures and their vital role in our ecosystems.

Over the course of a year, I photographed and logged the bugs I found, each one a small wonder.

I hope my egg inspires people to look a little closer and discover the treasures waiting right outside their door.

I began by sketching the placement of the bugs to explore how they could be arranged across the surface of the egg.

I wanted it to feel magical and focused on the more unusual creatures I’d discovered.

Luckily, I know a couple of very talented people who helped bring my sketches to life. Grace and Zoe joined me in painting the bugs, using acrylics and gouache. It took us three long days of careful work, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
